How does eG Enterprise Monitor the Apigee Edge Server?
eG Enterprise employs an agentless approach to monitor the Apigee Edge server. This approach requires that the eG agent be deployed on a remote Windows host in the environment. To collect the metrics of interest from the Apigee Edge server, this agent uses the REST APIs.
The pre-requisites that need to be fulfilled to use the REST API of the Apigee Edge server have been detailed in the following section.
Pre-requisites for Monitoring Apigee Edge Server
To enable the eG agent to monitor the Apigee Edge server, the following pre-requisites should be fulfilled:
- The user who is authorized to access the target Apigee Edge server should be vested with Organization Administrator (Read-only) privileges. In addition, the user should also be capable of executing the HTTP GET commands of the REST APIs of the AP. The eG agent communicates with this user to collect the performance metrics.
Once the aforesaid requirement is fulfilled, the eG agent will report a plethora of useful metrics revealing the traffic flow of the each component of an organization in the target Apigee Edge server and present these performance statistics in the eG monitoring model using the hierarchical layer model representation (refer Monitoring the Apigee Edge Server).
