How to Monitor Proxmox Hypervisor Using eG Enterprise?
eG Enterprise monitors a Proxmox Hypervisor in an agent-based or an agentless manner. In case of the agentless approach, a remote agent used to monitor the Promox Hypervisor server should be deployed on a remote Windows host in the environment.
Regardless of the monitoring approach (agent-based or agentless), the eG agent connects to the Proxmox Hypervisor and runs pvesh commands to pull the metrics of interest. An eG install user should be assigned a PVEAuditor role who has read only access privilege on the Proxmox Hypervisor. To enable this connection, ensure that the following pre-requisites detailed here are fulfilled.
- General Pre-requisites
- Pre-requisites for Obtaining the 'Inside View' of VMs, using the eG VM Agent
- Pre-requisites for Obtaining the 'Inside View' of VMs, without using the eG VM Agent
Once the pre-requisites are fulfilled, add a Proxmox Hypervisor component for monitoring. The steps for adding the target component are discussed in Adding a Proxmox Hypervisor Component.
