Monitoring SAP BusinessObjects Data Services
eG Enterprise provides a specialized, web-based SAP BODS monitoring model for continuously monitoring the SAP Business Objects Data Services.
Figure 1 : The layer model of the SAP Business Objects Data Services
Each layer of the layer model above is mapped to tests that monitor the overall health, availability, and performance of each of the servers running in a configured node. Using the metrics so reported, administrators can find quick and accurate answers for the following performance queries:
- Are the various BODS services in healthy state? Is the node healthy ?
- What is the system load in terms of publications, instances running, Jobs running etc.?
- Are there any high importance, highest importance messages and errors in log file?
- Is the data flow through the system optimal?
- Are the number of data flows and average duration of data flows in optimal range?
- Are the CPU and Memory utilization of each node within permissible limits?
- Is the number of succeeded jobs as per expectations?
- Are there too many jobs running at any given time?
- Is the maximum job execution time within the tolerance limits?
- Are the web services currently active?
The bottom 3 layers are similar to that of the Windows Generic Server model. For more information about these layers, see Unix and Windows Servers.
